BLOOD OF THE POET (1930)French Surrealist Jean Cocteau’s first full-length feature was his most abstract and shows a strong influence of filmmakers Salvador Dali and Luis Buñuel. MESHES IN THE AFTERNOON (1943) Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid were part of a new generation of post-World War II Americans who began experimenting with cinema.
