Irish Film Institute -CARL DREYER TALK

CARL DREYER TALK

Long recognised as one of cinema’s great directors, and the subject of a selective retrospective in this programme, Carl Dreyer’s high reputation is well deserved but some of his work is rarely seen and has led to a distorted view of his achievements. In this illustrated talk on April 18th at 14.30, IFI programmer Peter Walsh will attempt to redress the balance, concentrating not on the image of him as “the gloomy Dane” but on the innovative filmmaker who was perhaps cinema’s greatest chronicler of the human soul.

This event is FREE but ticketed. Please book your seat when visiting or call the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477.
