Irish Film Institute -CZECH ANIMATION

CZECH ANIMATION

Some of the richest animation in the history of the genre emerged from the former Czechoslovakia. Operating before, during and after the Cold War, the animators conveyed rebellious themes through the use of inanimate objects which they skilfully brought to life. This selection of short films from Jirí Trnka, Jan Svankmajer, Jirí Barta and Karel Zemen comes from the Czech Film Archive.

Supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic.
