There will be a post-screening Q&A with director Havana Marking.

Havana Marking (director of award-winning Afghan Star) manages to gain unprecedented access to the Pink Panthers, an international crime gang that pull off heists so astonishing, the security footage of their crimes would not be out of place in a Hollywood movie.

Interviewing five of the Panthers (and superbly animating their testimonies to protect their identities) and those that sought to catch them, Marking tells the story of this loose network of expert jewel thieves born out of the chaos of the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia. And as many of the Panthers are caught and extradited, one wonders for how long can they continue their ways.

“Havana Marking’s imaginatively made documentary is a gripping portrait of a daring international jewel-theft ring.” Variety

This film is showing as part of the IFI Stranger Than Fiction 2013, Documentary Film Festival (September 26th – 29th).
