Sent back to protect her is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), a soldier in her son John’s army who is already in love with the woman he knows only through John’s stories, and from a single, enigmatic photograph. The film that kick-started the careers of Schwarzenegger and writer-director James Cameron, The Terminator gave the former his most iconic role, soon to reprised in Terminator: Genisys, and announced the latter as a supremely confident and capable director of sci-fi action, a reputation he would consolidate with the equally seminal Aliens (1986).
