WILD STRAWBERRIES: DOUBT

Director: John Patrick Shanley

108 minutes, U.S.A., 2008, Colour, D-Cinema

Wild Strawberries is our bi-monthly film club for over 55s.

The recent death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman called to mind his unerringly brilliant film characterisations. From his Oscar-winning Capote to his spine-tingling The Master, his performances were filled with complexity, strength and yet, somehow, uncertainty. As a Bronx parish priest he comes into direct conflict with the disciplinarian school principal Sr. Aloysius (Meryl Streep). Her world is full of certainties, until one young nun’s suspicions of the priest cast it all in doubt. The dispute is fought out against a backdrop of a changing world.

€3.85 including regular tea/coffee before the screening. Wild Strawberries is our film club for over 55s. If you are lucky enough to look younger, please don’t take offence if we ask your age.
