WILD STRAWBERRIES: STELLA DAYS

Director: Thaddeus O’Sullivan

100 minutes, 2011, Ireland/Norway/Germany, Drama

Wild Strawberries is our bimonthly film club for the over 55s.

Award-winning actor Martin Sheen is far removed from his West Wing President Jed Bartlet in this story of 1950s’ small town Ireland. As Fr. Barry, a man who believes in modernisation but also has a real passion for film, he incurs the wrath of the local bishop and several small-minded parishioners when he tries to build a community cinema.

Encouraged by a local teacher, he tries to get the cinema off the ground. However, along with conflict with authority, he’s also in conflict with himself as he tries to figure out what his role should be in this small and changing town.

€3.85 per person including regular tea or coffee before the screening. Please note: Wild Strawberries is our film club for over 55s. If you are lucky enough to look younger, don’t take offence if we ask your age.
