Private: JDIFF: REEL ART – WONDER HOUSE

Director: OONAGH KEARNEY

Wonder House explores the creative process by inviting scientists to recall those childhood memories that sparked their imaginations. Using these recollections as a starting point, it celebrates the role of play in the early development of a love for science and art. Depicting a young girl’s journey of discovery through an old house, it illustrates how a child’s sense of wonder is sparked by an object or an experience. In tandem with the girl’s visual journey, the scientists’ voices describe personal moments of inspiration. Funded as an experimental arts documentary, Oonagh Kearney’s Wonder House offers a fictional synthesis of fantasy and fact, science and art, imagination and reality.

Wonder House was made through the Arts Council’s Reel Art Scheme.
