ABOUT the IFI TradFest 2012 Programme
In celebration of Trad Fest 2012 we present two remarkable programmes of films about traditional Irish music.
PROGRAMME 1 (Saturday, Jan 28th, 12.00):
THE DUBLINERS IN THE RARE OUL TIMES
A programme of rarely-seen films about The Dubliners, including a 1967 pop-video, Seven Drunken Nights, made by renowned music documentarian Peter Whitehead for BBC’s Top of the Pops in 1967.
PROGRAMME 2: (Sunday, Jan 29th, 12.00)
LA RÊVE CELTIQUE
(THE CELTIC DREAM)
Directed for French television by Frederick Rossif, produced by Tom Hayes and scored by film composer Vangelis (Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire), La Rêve Celtique presents Irish traditional musicians in ethereal Irish landscapes and in O’Connor’s Pub in Doolin. The film features The Mummers of Lady’s Island, The Choir of Cúil Aodha, Junior Crehen, Máire Ni Ceilleachair, Nicholas Toibin, and Peter Flaherty.
