IFI Stranger Than Fiction presents The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights

IFI Stranger Than Fiction presents the Irish premiere of The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights. In the summer of 2007 The White Stripes set out on an unusual tour, visiting every province and territory in Canada culminating with their 10th anniversary show in Nova Scotia; “from the ocean to the permafrost”, as Jack White put it.
This beautifully shot film follows them on that journey as they play advertised concerts as well as impromptu side-show gigs in venues as diverse as buses and bowling alleys. Promo director Emmett Malloy captures not only the band’s incredible performances but many intimate, candid moments between Jack and Meg, providing the audience with new insights and a greater appreciation of this remarkable band.
Stranger Than Fiction is the IFI’s documentary strand that presents monthly screenings of the best new factual filmmaking from around the world and presents a hugely successful annual Stranger Than Fiction Film Festival which will take place on 15th-18th April 2010. Submissions are now open for the Irish and International Short Films Strands and details can be found at www.ifi.ie/stf.
