Irish Destiny DVD

Irish Destiny is a love story set against the backdrop of the War of Independence produced by Dr Isaac Eppel in 1926- a short 10 years after the 1916 rising.

The film interweaves actual newsreel footage of the Black and Tans, the burning of Cork, and the burning of the Customs House in Dublin with dramatised scenes which are filmed in Enniskerry, Wicklow and Dublin. For decades believed lost the IFI Irish Film Archive found a print in the U.S. Library of Congress in 1991 and restored it to its original tinted and toned glory.

A magnificent score written by Micheál Ó Súilleabháin, one of Ireland's leading classical musicians and performed by the RTE Concert Orchestra, accompanies this most important document of Ireland's cinematic heritage.

Length 78 mins | Language: English intertitles | Sound: silent with musical score | Region: multi-region
