1992 DAY: WAYNE’S WORLD

Director: PENELOPE SPHEERIS

94 minutes, U.S.A, 1992, Colour, 35mm

Where were you in 1992? Were you yelling “Party Time!” before launching into an air guitar session?! If so, you’re in for a special trip down memory lane… Wayne’s World is back on the big screen! Excellent!

Based on a sketch on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Wayne’s World captured the imagination of Irish cinema-goers 20 years ago as Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) and Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) burst onto our screens and into our consciousness only to leave us forever head-banging in cars to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody… For one night only, relive those heady days or discover just why the world went crazy for Wayne. We are not worthy!

Waynes World will be introduced by 2FM’s Rick O’Shea.

This film is screening as part of 1992 Day which is part of IFI20: Celebrating 20 Years in Temple Bar.

For a bit more 1992 nostalgia, we’ll also be hosting a FREE outdoor screening of Far and Away as part of Culture Night 2012 in Meeting House Square (Temple Bar).
