Here is an invitation to spend an indulgent Sunday afternoon at the IFI getting a tasty brunch from the IFI Café Bar whilst enjoying a pairing of two great films.

The strand kicks off with a Humphrey Bogart double bill of Howard Hawks’ To Have and Have Not (1944), which features Bogart as a taciturn boat captain in Martinique, struggling to stay neutral while World War II impinges his income and his feisty relationship with bar singer Marie “Slim” Browning (Lauren Bacall) gets serious; and Michael Curtiz’ enduring Casablanca (1942), frequently celebrated as the most romantic film ever made. (Notes by Michael Hayden.)

As if these two classic films weren’t enough of a draw, why not peruse our delicious brunch menu to get your taste buds tingling? We’re serving up classic hangover lounge fare such as traditional eggs benedict, or French toast or an American style pancake stack (smothered in your choice of chocolate, fruit or maple syrup) – the only challenge in your Sunday will be deciding what to choose!
